Real Difference in SEEM Edit between A1200E and A1200 w/EDGE

The user "unclerain", bought a ming that came with 29P, according to him hes got internet working on it. maybe we can compare his seems with ours and see whats wrong

Still, its kind of dissapointing the lack of attention this firmware has received by premium members like Mischka and alpha and others.

The reason why i have not looked into this is because of two reasons.

1. i have been occupied with m projects for this site as a whole.

2. There has been alot of success stories when i first released EDGE here for both A1200 and E6. Its only been a handful of people who have not got it to work. But for the most part everyone who did the EDGE seem edit report speeds over 100kb. So to me it works already.


What i can do is look into it more if you guys really want me to once i finish some projects for you guys.

See that's the thing...are you sure that people aren't posting "burst" speeds vs average speed? W/ DSL report...I haven't been able to get reliable results (one instance would report give one # sometimes over 100kb/sec another try would say give me much less).

When I stream video (using orb.com - which will utilize the whole bandwidth)...I can consistently stream at 40kb/sec (inline wiht GPRS performance) but anything beyond that speed and video would start skipping...which would suggest that the phone isn't getting enough bandwidth (EDGE should technically be able to deliver 100kb/sec on average easily). I get the same results regardless of whether I'm using the EDGE seemedits or not. Other users on the forum have reported similiar experiences that there have been no performance difference w/ or w/o the seem edit.

While I (as well as many others) appreciate the effort that you and others have put forth to discover the original EDGE settings, I just want to make sure that we haven't missed something here. The EDGE icon alone may not be indicative of EDGE actually working (although I could be dead wrong). Also, others may have been reporting burst speeds since we've had no reliable ways to benchmark this thing.

This is why, we're trying to find out if there are some additional settings that we are not aware of...to fully leverage the EDGE capabities.

I just thought I would add that you can not do a speed test on Opera Mini. I know.. I know... 99% of you know that already, but this goes out to the 1% (guy who just got his Ming) who doesn't know yet.

Hey.. Robi...I tried the new seems and with my Cingular sim card the phone just re-boots over and over....I was able to re-do the seems to the origanal edge ones in the few seconds the phone showed green between re-boots... I thought I was gonna have to re-flash again...whew!!! Needless to say with Cingular its a no go with the modded seems.

Good idea, but his hardware might be different (i.e. he might actually have an authentic A1200E)....it's not looking good...I'm starting to think that there might be real hardware differences that we just can't "fix" via seemedits.

thats not true, if we can enable EDGE by simple seem editing they i dont see why we cant have the stock EDGE firmware also. Its more like a matter of preference, the hardware is there, just the firmware is written different

I would gladly like to make a new version to the EDGE edit i released not that long ago. If we can prove without a doubt that we are missing something and either I or someone else finds out the missing code then for now ill leave it as it is..

What i can do to help is have one of you guys send me your seems.
