Please go through this entire discussion, this thread. These points are clarified.

The camera module probably wont on your E6 for the following reasons:

1. tmp_do tried to port it and observed that the entire image was upside down.
2. The A1600 camera lens has an autofocus feature which is exploited by the camera module. Since the E6 does not have it, the results maybe unexpected, and may not be very pleasant.

Still, after all, it's only a binary, and there are numerous firmware, like Akshay's autoswap 10p, which will allow you to mount your own camera binaries, so it should be easy to try it out. Good luck!
