Gameboy Advanced games are avilable ??
JMEBoy is a Gameboy emulator for J2ME (MIDP 2.0) enabled mobile devices.
Running games
Making games available to the emulator
Before you can run a Gameboy game, you have to tell the emulator which games are available on the mobile device. Unlike a PC a J2ME-based mobile device cannot easily access the device's file system for loading a game.
Edit permissions then you can scan your mobile device for Gameboy games and then load these games. This needs to be done only once, or after you have loaded more games onto your device. Doing this scan is done via the menu item 'Search Gameboy programs in the local filesystem'. The following file extensions are currently supported when loading programs: .gb, .gbc and .cgb.
Loading and starting a game
You can load a program using the 'Play a game' menu item or via the 'Play' button (). This opens a dialog where you can select the Gameboy cartridge to play.
Joypad input
Keyboard and navigation keys
The mobile device's navigation keys are used for joypad navigation.
Touchscreen
The Gameboy buttons A, B, Select and Start are displayed on the screen and can be pressed there.
Since v1.1.1: Moving your finger to the right over the touchscreen can be used to emulate joypad navigation to the right. In the same way also the other directions can be emulated. Using the device's navigation keys is normally faster, but sometimes navigation using the touchscreen can come in handy.
Emulator settings
Using the 'Edit settings' menu item or the 'Settings' button () you may edit some emulator settings:
Video settings
The item 'Show only every # frame' lets you reduce the number of frames which are displayed. Showing e.g. only every 4th frame improves the speed of the emulator, but the screen is refreshed less often.
Sound settings
You can switch on/off the sound emulation using the "Sound" option. Disabling sound emulation can improve the speed of the emulator a bit. Additionally sound will be distored if the emulation speed is lower than 100% of the original Gameboy speed and therefore only appropriate on fast devices. Additionally you can specify the sample rate for the sound. Higher sample rates offer better sound quality at the cost of slightly lower emulation speed. Activating sound is only useful on devices where the emulation speed is close to 100% of the Gameboy speed.
Miscellaneous stuff
Using the 'Show log' command you may take a look at warnings and informational messages of the emulator. This also includes measurements about the emulator performance in comparison to a "real" Gameboy device.
since v1.1: Using the 'Suspend' menu item you can save the current emulator state and exit the emulator. On the next start of the emulator, it will resume at exactly the same point where it was suspended.
These features doesn't work on A1200:
- Orientation Sensor
- Sound
