Restore overwrites current data, be careful!

    Hi mischka,

just found an issue with the "superman_sys-folder_sys-path.rar" file.

i've got Bint's 08p and it came with superman in firmware which installed apps to Programs folder.

i did what u suggested and overwrote the files with the ones from "superman_sys-folder_sys-path.rar" and installed the "33swapmem-12mb.rar" program fould elsewhere in this forum and this is what i found

    - Program folder still is created
    - but the app is installed to .system\QTDownLoad\ folder
    - cardregistry entry was just Directory = 33swapmem instead of
    Directory = /mmc/mmca1/.system/QTDownLoad/33swapmem
    - App Manager did not refresh after installation(had to reboot phone manually)
    - On trying to run the apps just installed, i get a dialog "Invalid Application File, the file cannot be used"

also tried installing "mystuff" with the same results.

    any pointers to whats wrong?
    thanks in advance.

I tried the same app with mine:
-No Programs folder is created (maybe you didn't delete your's?)
    - app is installed to mmc/mmca1/.system/QTDownLoad/
-card registry Directory = 33swapmem (This is the same with mpkg installer, my former installed apps have registry the same way)
    - had to reboot before app was displayed in menu (this is normal with pkg files)
    - taping on the app phone beeps, tapping again phone makes dingdong (like it should be, didn't confirm a swapfile is created)

I tested installation with unzipper before and it's installed correctly (I think). Taping on unzipper nothing happens but a file"unzipper.log" is created opening this with notepad I see "unsupported filetype" which is normal, I think, because this is the wrong usage of unzipper (have to do "open with unzipper")

    I have debranded 24xp/46p hybrid (59xpV2-like)

    I don't know what's wrong with your's

    edit:
Did you use linloader before and have uninstalled it?

In this case .lin files are related to no app at all and you should execute a .lin file with superman (use any command that does nothing maybe "cd /mmc/" or empty file) and mark the field "always use this application ..." by doing "open with".

Yan0's mystuff and 33swapmen are based on .lin scripts!

If superman is already the "always used application", there must be something different.

hmm... maybe my firmware does things different.

after i refalshed my phone i have not installed mpkg loader or linloader as superman takes care of both.

i didn't try if superman installed apps uninstall properly, i have a feeling they will... (I bet Bint knows what he does)

think i'll stick with what came in the firmware

    thanks for the update, cheers!

I learned how to pack .tgz files with cygwin and just added the install version with older superman app that install pkgs to .system folder and allows deinstallation of pkg apps to my first post.

not an issue by itself but many of the scripts found here in this forum rely on paths like /mmc/mmca1/.profile/QTDownLoad and those scripts would fail.

e.g. the dropbearSetup lin scripts had to be modified before they worked for me.
Looks like newer fw like R532C2_G_11.30.30P don't allow .pkg apps to be installed to .system folder and even don't allow to run those apps if they were alreaedy installed there using other fw.
This might be the reason for bint to update his superman app and let it install to different folder.

Seems like motorola devs are working harder to avoid native linux apps than to improve their firmware. That's no fun

I now wonder if there ever was any interest in Motorola releasing parts of it FW to the opensource community (other than compliance to licensing ofcourse).

also if we would ever get a SDK for native apps from them, ever... ( wishful thinking going too far)

but as long as we have the devs and the whole fans community here and at ccmove with us...
