Install as you would any Jar file and then change permissions so can read/write files to phone's directory (see Guide to Modding Sticky if you do not know what I am talking about).

After that very intuitive to use.

The main purpose of Quicknotes App is to make quick notes on the way or on work meetings. You can note and make sketches. After that I need to know when the note was made. QuickNotes App allows me to make that quick notes and sketches automatically storing the image with the time when it was made.

Main features :

1. You can create drawing, sketches, little notes with the Stylus.
2. Has many object types: freehand, line, box, elipse, filled box, filled elipse and camera.
3. 1 - it is vectorial - this means you can move and delete objects not pixels like the native Photo Editor.
Raster image editor (works with pixels) are good for image editing and painting.
Vectorial graphics are good for taking notes.
4. select colors with a color picker, a used color history or RGB sliders.
5. put a photo shoot in the background
6. control stroke width
7. export as PNG and ZIP (need a little hack to add perms). The ZIP file contains all pages and texts.
8. unlimited pages (maybe limited by system memory and storage size - actually the transflash if you install the application in the transflash)
9. Automatically record date and time of creation and last modification. This information is exported in the ZIP file.
10. Each note have a text comment, a title and one more date and time you can use as due date or something else.
11. Send a MMS with the page.



Known bugs:
Tell me if you find one. I will try to fix as soon as possible.

EDIT - 1.0.0.2 - 2007-03-20: New version with 2 bug fixes: Now you can take a picture in an empty page. Fixed the bug with the ERASE Tool.
After installing the new version you will need to re-do the HACK.
Don't uninstall the old app or you will loose all pages.
EDIT - 2007-03-21: Found that changing the Domain of the Midlet to "Manufacturer" instead of "Trusted Third Party" is better.
EDIT - v1.0.0.3 - 2007-03-25: New features and a test:
1 - Made it easier to select and erase an existing object.
2 - Color Usage History is saved between session
3 - Last color used and last stroke weight are saved between session
4 - Send the current page with MMS.
To use, you need to activate the GPRS connection.
Also, you need the data profiles in order.

I've changed the export function. Now on clicking the Floppydisc icon you select only Phone or SD. Then, ALL pages will be exported to the Quicknotes directory in a TAR Archive. I don't recommend you to store in the phone because it will be in the limited EZXLOCAL partition and you cannot access it with Windows Explorer in USB Storage mode.
You can open the TAR file with 7-Zip, Stuffit, WinRAR, PicoZIP, PowerZIP, Hard Code Compress, Tar98, PowerArchiver.

This is a test. I want to know if you prefer to save one page a time or all pages at once.

EDIT - v1.1 - 2007-04-12: New features:
1 - Changed to Drop-down Toolbars - now the icons are twice bigger but you need two tap's with the stylus to change to another tool.
2 - Better support to export files.
3 - Some bug fixes in Export and MMS funtions. (Removed the Done button).

EDIT - v1.1.0.1 - 2007-04-13: Sorry for the inconvenience - new users need to use this version as the previous 1.1 version does not create the Quicknotes export directory.

EDIT - v1.2 - 2007-04-18: These many releases in short time should be confusing but it is for a good cause . All changes in this release are in response for user requests - thanks for all the suggestions. Changes in this release:
1 - The return of the undo button. It removes the most recent object added on the page (the object on the top).
2 - Close button now is on the far right edge of the screen.
3 - Now you can save ONE PAGE (only the drawing) as PNG and All pages (with properties). To save just the current page you need to open the phone popup menu (bottom-left button) on the Save Location screen.
4 - Now "Color" and "Stroke weight" commands affects future objects as well as the current selected object.

- Fixed tap location for the YES/NO buttons on the exite confirmation dialog
- Fixed minor bugs related to pen state after some actions (undo, color pallete, properties)
new feature:
- Change background color (choose "Background color" in properties page)
- Set page size (in properties page) - from 240x288 to any size
- Hand tool to navigate the image from screen
- Edit and add categories
- Search for pages using category and title

You can install on the phone and hack it on the phone but because you can put photo shoots you can fill up your memory easy.

Screens are stored on the application directory.

If you install on the phone you can export to a file and delete the page to free memory.

(Dedraks actually prepare a similar app to take notes with stylus...).

it is complicated only if you need the EXPORT function (the Floppydisk icon.
if you don't use it, just install as a normal Java App.

if you want to backup your notes, you copy and zip the MIDletXXXX directory.
