Ocelaris, could you please post your location, your service provider, and what type of data plan you have?

I think it will be helpful if more ppl can exchange their results

Here are my results of my desktop using my new Edge service connected to a known speed demon. I pulled 18-19kBps steady which is pretty impressive...

Now compare that with my cable modem and it looks a bit shabby. but hey, I'll take 20kBps (Cable Modem does 17Mbps or 2MBps)

Nice, ya my card says Rogers on it and a bunch of numbers on it but nothing that says 3G :\ And I just go tit with this phone, cause I was on an 1X phone before this.

I'm from DC, and have Cingular, it's the 29.99$ plan, so to my knowledge, unlimited data service, and 400 text messages. If there was a cheaper data plan, I would have gotten it.

Ok, it's apparently called Smartphone connect for Microsoft Direct Push, only 29.99 plan... There is a 19.99$ plan which I want to see if I can get on for smart phones...

Ocelaris: there is an older plan that was $19 per month - it was called MediaNet. It has been killed off - from what I was told yesterday by our corporate rep, they have it grandfathered in - ask if you can get it, as it is much cheaper - say you had it at one point on your existing account! Of course, if this is a brand new account, you're sol. Good luck!

WOW! Radiocom was a breeze for me compared to P2K seem editing on my old slvr and razr.

I think that I can confirm that on Cingular Us there is a DEFINITE improvement in speed with EDGE enabled.

While it still takes a few seconds to load the browser (which I think is probably inevitable), jumping pages is about twice as fast and send/rec. in pop email is about 4 times as fast.

    Thanks for finding this

Thanks I will see if I can, I've had this account for >2 years, so maybe...

Although I was able to pull almost 20KB/s using the phone as a modem, actual speed downloading programs etc... was awful. That same website, pulled at <1kB/s... google maps was at 8kB/s so it's obvious that speed is limited by the interface of the browser etc... pop being a behind the scenes thing may go much faster I suppose... will give that a shot.

Well I kinda have a simillar thought.
I'm on T-Mobile with the $4.99 data plan. Does the fact that I am going through t-mobiles wap server limit the speed. Because I got the EDGE to show up whenever I connect to the net.

    Hi All,

Radicomm has detected a1200, and have sucessfully done with changes as to EDGE, now i am able to see "E" instead of "G".

Downloaded file "EDGE.RAR", unrared it, and placed it on desktop.

    Started software RadioComm.
Went to Features - Run Test Script Command.
    a window will open
press the browse button, and show it to path where you have saved EDGE file (unrared one)
    Press Run Script button,
it will show that command is over, restart phone.

    EDGE is enabled.

Thank you everybody at MotorolaFans.com for all the help.

    Regards,
    Sunil.
