[INFO] A1200 has EDGE here's how to enable it

None of the above worked for me. I was able to seem edit with RadioComm but nothing changed after the phone reboot. I then tried running the script and still no change. I still have "G" not "E". I have an A1200 with stock 53P firmware. I use T-Mobile USA.

Same here.. Same firmware 53p open up RadioComm try to run the script. Top box is in red. Message says failed. Can't get RadioComm to detect the phone. Tried also running the Hypertrm, witch I read in the forums. But nothing....

I have 53p generic and it works great. But I did it manually not witht he script. So maybe it's the script.

Samething when I try to do it manually. Red box in the far right "failed attempt to send test command" it gives me..

Yup means the drivers aren't right, I think the MPT is in the download section, all the drivers need to be loaded first. it'll install like 20 devices before Radiocomm can talk to the phone.

okay, it works! its just that edge isnt available for t-mobile in my city. I went out on a few repair tickets today out of town and when I went to call someone I saw the "E" appear when I was roaming. When I got home it was back on "G".
I tested the speeds too:

EDGE
200k test = 23kbit/sec
1.072s latency
69.77 secs download time
GPRS
200k test = 16kbit/sec
1.168s latency
95.50 secs download time

Did the Edge mod. A1200 has ver R532C2_G_11.31.25P_11.31.25P. Seems to load weather map faster. The voice mail fix worked on this version also. Cingular service.

I use my A1200 phone primarily for video streaming via the orb.com software...I noticed that with EDGE...the burst speed is incredible (sometimes up to 200kb/sec)...but steady consistent transfer rate only between 60-75kb/sec at best regardless of location. I use Cingular here in the US.

Just out of curiousity...I wonder what "class" is our EDGE set to...because depending on the EDGE "class" it uses more or less slots which corresponds to more or less bandwidth (see url below).

I guess to figure this one out...would anyone have a seem map for the A1200/E2/E6/etc...similar to what we have for Vxxxx series phones (see below)...if so I can actually try to figure out what the current EDGE sim edit actually does (because we currently have to modify quite a few "seems" to get EDGE working). I want to try to see if we may be able to boost our EDGE speed....(this was how we figured out how to solve the voicemail bug a while back for those who recall=).

From the prelimiary bandwidth testing...we get pretty decent "burst" speeds (200kb+/sec) ...but steady consistent bandwidth is still pretty slow (60-75 kb/sec). Nonetheless, it is still better than GPRS, so I am still extremely grateful to CV144 and Alpha43 for their contribution to this forum and making EDGE possible for us.

Your welcome! Glad my find helped everyone out and most importantly enabled EDGE after much debate of doubt and disputes..

As for the Seem map.. There isnt one out yet for EZX phones since they differ to p2k phones..

Also the voicemail bug issue has been around for over a year now my friend. I had it posted up for a while now. Did you not see it in the sitickies? Its all good though if you learned by yourself.

i have instyalled radiocom afrter installing it i start it ,the installation for motorola driver started,than radiocom started ,i connected my phone via cable in usb mode but radiocom is not detecting it ,i installed it 3-4 times but same thing happens,plz tell me if i m doing something wrong or i have to do something extra to run edge

after connecting ur phone via usb cable,
go to menu --- setup --- usb mode & select modem

ur work should be done, radiocomm will detect ur phone

Mobile Phone Tools --- this software came with the cell phone.

If you can't synch....you can't use RadioComm.

Can you post alink where I can get it please.

I don't know if it is available on the net because it comes with the ming.
But you don't need MPT to USE RadioComm....I just asked because if you can't synch then you have a worse problem.

Well, if you never use MPT before, maybe you have not enable the Modem.
To enable, enter the modem setup program (find the Modem icon on the Menu).
Under USB Modem be sure that "Auto Launch" is selected.
Also (you may already done this), select Modem in the USB Mode Setup.

Then try to unplug USB and pug it again.

Start RadioComm. If everything was done right, then many driver installation windows will popup.

Holy Crap It worked. THANKS ALOT. After running the script the phone turned off and on. And the BIG E was there. And yes it runs alot fast the before. I'm in Montreal and with Rogers, I see a big differents. Thanks a Lot for ur help.
