It's a fun application and it works on my phone straight out of the box. Didn't have to modify or tweak it, it just worked. So I guess whether the app will or will not work on someone's phone is a matter of firmware.

P.S. I wouldn't think adding this to the startup script would be a great idea. Like someone else said, it will kill your backlight. Using this every now and then though, should have no effect on your screen's backlight!
