    Edit August 22 2007:

Thanks to Tagallo, an English version is now available. Download file is attached - it is called smartasst2_3_1_manual_englishzip_190.rar.
The other one (smartasst2_3_549.rar) is the original Chinese version.

Full instructions on how to install and use Smart Assistant are posted in FAQ sticky at top of forum ==>
http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=6626 . Look for "SmartAssistant - how do I use it?"

EDIT: There is a known bug in SmartAsst - you have to restart the phone (sometimes several times) after doing a restore before you see all your contacts and other data restored.

I installed the app and have just spent past 30 minutes playing with it. Here is a quick summary (I do not know Chinese so some of this is best guess!).

    1. When you install SmartAssistant, it will automatically associate *.PKG, *.sh, *lin and *. mtf files to open using this app - so next time you click on a file of one of these types, it will open using this app automaticaly. Seems to install PKG and LIN files fine.

    2. It will also automatically associate rar, zip, tar, tgz, gz files with this app - so if you click on them they will uncompress using this app.

    3. If you click on a *.txt file it will open in Notes app and you can edit it. (I can not remember if this did this before SmartAssistant installation or not!)

    4. If you actually start the Smart Assistant from the Menu then it will display a screen with 3 buttons at the bottom:
Left - not sure - it displays a window with 2 other buttons - but unable to figure out what they do!
Middle - Do Backup or Restore
    Right - Exit

If you do nothing then after 5 seconds of starting the app, a window will popup asking if you want to do a Cleanup. It has 2 buttons at bottom.
Left button - Yes - this deletes the history of media player and any installed skins and themes. It puts the phone to some sort of blue skin.
Right button - No/Cancel - return to main screen.

Here is how the other functions work:

    Left button - ??
Will keep playing trying to figure out what this does!

    Middle Button - Backup/Restore
Performs a backup or restore of all your contacts, messages, JAVA certification, network settings, customized ringtones, general settings, alarm clock settings, etc.
When you click on the button it displays another window with three buttons:
    - left - backup - writes eveything to /Backup/backup.gho on your SD card.
    - middle - do restore from backup.gho file. (You can click directly on this file and do restore this way also).
    - right - cancel/go back

Hope this helps folks until translated version is available!
